January, 2006 --

Mozart

Welcome all students and families to a new year.  We have a number of new families joining Individual Dynamics and we warmly welcome you.  I hope you have all had a safe and relaxing holiday period.

I look forward to the term ahead with great anticipation.  New students are beginning lessons, new learning materials will be purchased and written and continuing students will be an ongoing pleasure to teach.

Last term saw the studio move into new premises.  (This meant some instability during lessons and in business – thank you to all of you who patiently endured these changes.)  The new premises offers advantages for creative lesson activities and comfort for people waiting for or during lessons.

Congratulations!

Sincere congratulations are extended to Karen, who sat her 3rd grade practical AMEB exams last term.  Karen, you rose above your circumstances and for that I am very proud of you.

Well done, Riannah.  After consistent effort and enthusiasm during lessons, Riannah achieved the first of her Bronze Awards and completed beginner Stage 1.

AMEB News

AMEB has released the syllabus and examination dates for this year.  The closing date for entry into theory exams is 24th February.  AMEB charges fees for these examinations.  If any student is interested in these exams, please discuss this with me during lessons.

Business Matters

The studio now has a dedicated phone number and email address.  New contact details are phone: 9836 4639 and email: hyrst@bigpond.net.au.  More information about the school can be found at SchoolsOn (www.schoolson.com.au).  This is a good site to which you might refer friends if they ask about the studio.

Mozart Mozart

Happy birthday to everyone who has their birthday this month.  You share the month with the famous classical composer Mozart.

January 27th marks the 250th birthday anniversary of Wolfgang Mozart.  He was born in Salzburg Austria (Europe) and began learning and writing music when he was only 3 years old.  He began playing an instrument like the piano when he was 4 and performed for the Empress of Austria when he was 6.
Mozart was a famous composer when he was 14 years old.  During his life he wrote 22 operas (musical stories), 40 symphonies (pieces written for orchestra) and many sonatas, concertos, serenades and church-choir songs for harpsichord (like a piano) and violin.  His music involves a lot of feelings (lively, sad, serious, pretty, funny).  He spent his life writing and performing music, but most of his work became popular after he died at 35 years of age.

I look forward to seeing you soon.
